The Miracle Strain
I read this book the other day – I can’t recall the name of the author offhand but it was a very good read. Similar in substance to the DaVinci code by Dan Brown but with twists. It’s very well written and the suibject matter – plus the ideas it presents are fascinating. I got completely wrapped up in this story, from a characterisation point of view as much as in the story itself – and the ending is very well done.
It’s a topic some people may not enjoy as much – dpenending on your beliefs (or perhaps your ability to suspend your own opinions for the duration) but it’s a darn good read nevertheless. There’s also a little blurb inside the front cover that explains that this is the author’s first novel, which has sold millions of copies world wide and been a total bestseller. It’s also sold movie rights for 1.5 million I believe it was – to disney
So the fellow obviously made the right decision to quit his day job and get stuck into a manuscript. Makes you think doesn’t it – things like this are very encouraging for someone like myself who’d desperately love to write a novel. Although at the moment I’m quite happy in my day job, and would rather start writing around it. If it comes off well I’d make a decision then – the first step is just to get started!
Anyways – good book. If you like Dan Brown and his ilk, pick it up and you won’t be disappointed.
