Meditation

I’ve begun taking meditation classes at work under the tutelage of Bruce Evans, who’s been teaching it for over 10 years apparently. We’re just doing very simple calming meditations, generally sitting for about 30 minutes. When he first sent around an email to the spam list at work I figured it might be something worth trying purely for the benefit of taking half an hour to relax at the end of my day once or twice a week. But I’m finding it has a very positive benefit in terms of relaxation. I’m attending the tuesday morning classes as well as then wednesday evening ones now, and I’ve become quite interested in it. I’m attempting to practise on my own each morning after I workout in the gym – I need to cool down before I get in the showers anyways so it seemed like the perfect opportunity. I often don’t do too well, but it’s the attempt that counts. I do find it helps me concentrate, and when I’ve been doing it regularly I’m definitely more relaxed. Something to examine further I think, and I’ll be practising some of it at home and doing a little research on the net as well – more updates to come as things happen , for now let’s just work onfinding a balanced and comfortable posture that doesn’t put my legs to sleep!
