New and Improved Torture

Well I went to see Sandra in the gym yesterday, and went through what I’d been doing. I told her I wanted to increase the intensity of the workout, plus get an alternative program to do on tuesdays and thursdays, and concentrate some effort on my chest and stomach. Well. That may have been a mistake…

I ran the alternate workout this morning – plenty of ab work and some extra cardio / leg work. My God I hurt. It’s definitely going to be beneficial, but I’m seriously looking forward to getting past the first couple of weeks! I’m up to Warrnambool tomorrow so I’ll not get to do the bigger circuit, which is focused heavily on legs and chest / arms, but I’ll give that one a go on friday.

Oddly enough, it made a real difference doing something different this morning – I didn’t think I was that fussed about doing the same thing every day, but the change was great. Plus the new exercises are challenging, which is keeping me interested. Hopefully this heavier programming will help me start cutting into my upper body weight, and at the same time bring back some serious musculature on my chest and shoulders which will help. With any luck I’ll have made visible changes by the end of december, and should get more physical confidence through that as well.
