Funeral

Well we made it up in time – it was close but R did a great job and got us there in time to have a quick cleanup and get changed. There was a signing book at the entrance to the place they held the service, and well over 400 people signed it. While I was there, I noticed a lot of people missing the book or signing for a group, and so I think there were probably a good deal more there. It was an amazing turnout – and the service was nice. A slideshow set to music showed all kinds of images of Jeanette over her life, and was very touching. B was exceptionally well behaved, and at one point had a bit of a cry because he was sad for Big Michael and his family. Then a little later he saw R having a sob and that made him have another little one as well. Nor was I immune to the waterworks – and especially seeing one of the brothers in particular spilling over with tears as they wheeled the coffin out was more than enough to let it out.

For what it was, it couldn’t have been nicer I guess. I’m very glad we made it up there to be with Big Michael, Sian and the family. We stayed that night too at the Dart’s invitation, which I’m also glad we did. The morning after saw us quietly catching up and we went for a bite to eat and some coffee at fishtales in town. We left around lunchtimish I think, me stuffed full of assorted stuff from the chemist as I seemed to have developed a nasty bug overnight.

I’m glad we were there, I wish we hadn’t had to be.
