Cedega (WineX 4.0)

Wahey! I’ve been testing out the latest version of WineX from Transgaming [transgaming.com] and it’s brilliant. I haven’t tried it with too many games just yet but I got it to install and run soldier of fortune 2 yesterday. The game runs perfectly, and as far as I can see – somewhat smoother than it did under windows. It gets the occasional sound glitch – a word or two at the end of a cut screen repeating itself for a second or two but it doesn’t particularly bother me. Unfortunately I couldn’t get Deus Ex2 or Thief 3 working :( I may have to get another hard disk so I can setup a new winblows installation, since I lost the old one on the hard disk crash.

Anyways, I’ll be running a bunch of other games through cedega I think to see what I can get going. I’ve tried Medieval: Total War which was perhaps a bit ambitious but it didn’t work – the installer failed right at the end then nothing happened when I went to start the game. I’ve seen on the web though that Morrowind (Elder Scrolls III) runs ok, so I might have to give that try :)
